Nate Ethier

Overview
Nate Ethier (b. Providence, Rhode Island) is an American painter based in New York City. Ethier creates intricate, hard-edged abstractions that explore the relationships between color, light, and pattern. His paintings, composed entirely by hand without digital assistance, serve as meditative records of touch, repetition, and a sense of care.
 
Ethier earned his MFA from Boston University and his BA from Goddard College. He has held solo exhibitions at Hexum Gallery (Montpelier, VT), David Richard Gallery (New York), and LMAKgallery (New York), among others. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including shows at Ortega y Gasset Projects (Brooklyn), and Susquehanna Art Museum (PA).He was a recipient of the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program Award and has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. His paintings have been reviewed in Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, Artspace, and Providence Journal.
